5 Stars!
Some Bible stories naturally lend themselves to interactive storytelling, and Joshua and the Very Strong City takes full advantage of that! This wonderfully illustrated hardback invites little ones to march, stomp, and shout their way through the true story of Jericho’s fall. Tim Thornborough’s lively retelling and Jennifer Davison’s vibrant illustrations make this an engaging and faith-filled adventure, helping young hearts grasp the power of obedience, trust in God, and the assurance that He is always with us.
One of the things I love most about this book is how it transforms Bible reading into an experience! Little feet will be marching like soldiers, hands will cup imaginary trumpets, and voices will rise in victorious shouts. While the fun of acting out the story keeps kids engaged, the deeper message remains: God is always with us, we must obey Him, and we can trust Him completely.
The artwork is another standout. The bright, bold illustrations capture attention and bring the story to life in a way that’s perfect for toddlers and preschoolers. As part of the Very Best Bible Stories series, this book is a fantastic addition to any collection.
Whether read as a family or used in a church or preschool setting, Joshua and the Very Strong City is a joyful, interactive way to plant seeds of faith. It reminds little ones that following God isn’t just the right thing to do—it’s the best thing to do. And who knows? That final page might not be the end—just the beginning of a living room parade!
